Steve McGarvie Music
Darlington, UK
Welcome to the site! This is the place to find details of all of Steve's projects, including community choirs, private instrumental teaching and musical arrangements for a range of ensembles.
The Community Choirs perform mainly bespoke arrangements and specialise in rock, pop, soul and jazz music, both a cappella and with backing tracks. To see a list of songs already performed, click here.
Do I need to audition to join?
No you don't! The choirs are all-inclusive and offer a friendly welcome to anyone who wants to give singing in a choir a go. They have a wide range of ages, abilities and experiences (some with none at all!) and all levels are catered for.
Do I have to pay a membership fee? Are there other costs to consider?
No there isn't! All members pay £7 cash (or £7.25 via contactless card/app) per session and there is no membership fee, you just pay and sing. As all the music is written specifically for the groups you don't even need to pay for your own copy of the sheet music. Our 'uniform' when performing is flexible so there is no need to buy a specific item; the members bring their own style to the concerts.
Great! Is there a choir near me?
Well-Versed Community Choir currently runs in two venues - Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College in Darlington, and Bishop Auckland Methodist Church Hall. For further details, please click here.
So how do I join?
